Abstract: Magnesium reinforced by in situ particles was successfully synthesized via the reaction between magnesium, and KBF4 and K2TiF6 compounds. The results revealed the formation of magnesium and titanium borides through a series of reactions. The feasibility of using in situ reactions was thermodynamically verified. © 2001 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elservier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
