Abstract: The aim of this study was to perform a functional characterisation of ASAP1, a gene that has been implicated in a broad number of cancers and reported to be an important regulator of tumour cell invasion and metastasis, in the context of HCC. Its contribution towards cancer metastasis will be addressed by in vitro as well as in vivo work. Coupled with HCC clinical data, we will demonstrate the utility of ASAP1 as a biomarker or even as a therapeutic drug target in the treatment of HCC metastasis.
