Abstract: The thermal stability of poly(vinyl chloride)/poly(vinyl acetate) blends was studied by thermogravimetry. Blends were prepared by solution-casting from tetrahydrofuran (THF) and 2-butanone (MEK). The stability of the blends is different from that predicted by the additivity rule. The dehydrochlorination and deacetylation of MEK-cast blends are faster than those of THF-cast blends because of the different degrees of mixing of the blends. © 1993.
