Abstract: The miscibility of poly-2-bromoethyl methacrylate (PBEMA) with some aliphatic polyesters was studied by differential scanning calorimetry. PBEMA is immiscible with polyethylene succinate but is miscible with polyethylene adipate, polybutylene adipate, poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL), poly(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propylene succinate) and poly(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propylene adipate). Blends of PBEMA with polyhexamethylene sebacate (PHS) show a certain degree of miscibility and those with poly(2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propylene sebacate) show upper critical solution temperature behavior. Interaction parameters for PBEMA/PCL and PBEMA/PHS blends were evaluated from melting point depression analysis and their values are less negative than those of corresponding blends containing poly-2-chloroethyl methacrylate.
