Abstract: Organocatalytic asymmetric Michael reactions of fluorinated nucleophiles with nitroolefins catalyzed by Cinchona alkaloid-derived thiourea catalysts generated the desired Michael products containing vicinal fluorinated quaternary and tertiary chiral centers with exceptional enantioselectivity. © 2009 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
