AUTOMATIC PROGRAMMING AND ITS INTEGRATION WITH A MANUFACTURING DATA BASE USING MICROCOMPUTERS.

Abstract

Manufacturing personnel are in need of a simple, user friendly, low cost, flexible and integrated software. In meeting the requirement, machinability data has been taken into account. An attempt has been made here to develop a structured software for automatic programming and NC tape preparation using a personal computer. It is an highly interactive one, a sort of dialogue between it and the user wherein he has only to answer questions in a familiar language used in workshops and it takes him along a guided tour. Machinability data has been incorporated to automatically arrive at optimal conditions. Moreover, the use of personal computers has made the software a low cost and portable one within everyone's reach. Additional features like scheduling estimation etc. can be incorporated for versatility.
