Abstract: A technique used to measure the in-plane displacement, the velocity of a solid body using a principle similar to that used in LDA, and strain at a point was presented. An optical strain gauge, in which any gauge length could be chosen was proposed. The method is based on the modified in-plane sensitive arrangement. It was shown that the arrangement could be used to measure the velocity of the object.
