Abstract: An elaborate centrifuge modelling scheme was developed to seamlessly incorporate multiple sequential stages into one model test to induce negative skin friction on an end-bearing instrumented model pile by three typical causes, namely re-consolidation of remoulded clay after pile installation, underground water drawdown as well as surcharge loading. The behavior of the end-bearing model pile subjected to negative skin friction due to the above 3 causes, coupled with simultaneous dead load and live loads at various stages was scrutinized in a realistic and collective manner and presented in this paper. © 2006 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
