Abstract: A centrifuge model study has been carried out to investigate the effects of jack-up spudcan penetration on adjacent pile. The results reveal that the axial and lateral responses of the adjacent pile are significantly affected if it is within the failure pattern of the advancing spudcan. The magnitude of induced bending moment and axial force on the pile are evaluated against the respective ultimate pile capacity. The magnitude of pile movements is also examined. © 2006 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
