Abstract: In this paper, we proposed a method for analyzing and optimizing the prism based single-lens stereovision system so that the pictures captured by this system are adequate for the application of stereovision. We first analyzed this system from the standpoint of system setup and parameters selection. Then we introduced a method to calculate the FOV of the prism based single-lens stereovision system. By adding some restricted condition, we redefined the area of FOV and gave a detailed connection between FOV and captured picture to obtain the appropriate image pair for stereovision. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
