Abstract: A microcomputer-based real-time telemetry system for patient ECG (electrocardiagram) monitoring is developed. The system is designed to provide a real-time continuous ECG monitoring and analysis by means of a PC AT via wireless link. This system eliminates the need for the patient to be confined to a hospital bed; thus, he can carry out his normal activities yet be monitored at the same time. An adaptive signal analysis algorithm has been developed which facilitates the adaptation of the system to varying patient physiological condition and physical activity. The principles of operation of the telemetry system and the design of system software are described.
