Abstract: A fuzzy logic based sensorless rotor position estimation scheme with high accuracy is described. An optimized fuzzy motor model with compact rules was used to calculate the rotor position from the current and and flux waveforms. A fuzzy logic based optimal phase selector and predictive filter were implemented to improve the estimation accuracy. The simulation and experimental results showed high accuracy.
