Abstract: Adaptive decision-aided maximum-likelihood (DA ML) carrier phase estimation (PE) is shown to be more robust to frequency offset, with better frequency-offset and laser-linewidth tolerance compared to conventional DA ML carrier PE. © 2012 OSA.
