Abstract: The magnetic properties of lateral 'antidot' arrays were discussed. The magnetotransport behavior was found to be altered by the introduction of a thin oxide layer around the hole which restricted the conduction path to the horizontal segment of the film. The analysis suggested that the novel magnetic properties were externally engineered by means of nanolithography and partial oxidation.
