Abstract: A rate adaptation scheme requires channel state information (CSI), which can be acquired at the receiver by inserting pilot symbols in the transmit signals. We have developed a rate adaptation scheme that takes account of both channel estimation and prediction errors. The transmitter adapts transmission rate relative to the predicted channel state and a utilization factor. In turn, this utilization factor is optimized so as to achieve a maximum goodput. © 2009 IEEE.
