Abstract: An efficient algorithm using macro-basis-function (MBF) and progressive method has been proposed to analyze microstrip structure. The mutual coupling effects of all the elements are considered in each MBF by applying progressive approach. The algorithm consists of two stages. The first stage is to determine the initial current on the structure. The second stage is to calculate the elements one by one while still taking into account the mutual coupling effect among all the currents. Two examples are given to test the validity and efficiency of the proposed method. Numerical results from the proposed method have excellent agreements with those from the conventional method of moments. ©2007 IEEE.
