Abstract: A modified frequency-response masking structure for the design of sharp FIR filters is introduced. The new structure involves two additional masking filters to cut down the complexity of the overall filter. Our example shows that more than 40% savings in the number of multipliers can be achieved compared with the original frequency response masking approach.
