Abstract: New stability constraints are developed for sequential stabilization of decentralized control systems. Contrary to previous results, the current methods are derived directly from the stability condition of the whole decentralized control system. These results are based on the Structured Singular Value and lend themselves naturally to a sequential stabilization procedure as well as the criteria to select a priori the order of the controller design sequence.
