Issue Date: | 4-Aug-2005 | Citation: | Liu, S., Zhang, Z., Han, M.-Y. (2005-08-04). Nanometer-sized gold-loaded gelatin/silica nanocapsules. Advanced Materials 17 (15) : 1862-1866. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. https://doi.org/10.1002/adma.200500124 | Abstract: | The electrostatic-force-driven self-assembling behavior of acid-processed gelatin polypeptides was investigated through the predominantly seeded aggregation growth of denatured gelatin chains. The bifunctional gelatin-silica nanocapsules filled with gold nanoparticles was functionalized with biomolecules using well-established silica surface chemistry. Gelatin molecules were completely unfolded by injecting an aqueous gelatin solution into a boiling solution containing the gold colloids and continuously heating for 30 min. All the ternary components in the nanometer-sized gold-loaded gelatin/silica nanocapsules, including silica, gelatin and gold nanoparticles were biocompatible. | Source Title: | Advanced Materials | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/67184 | ISSN: | 09359648 | DOI: | 10.1002/adma.200500124 |
