An experimental programme was performed using 10 specimens of different thickness and reinforcement ratio. The negative moment capacity of each slab predicted using a simple analytical model was compared with that obtained from the experiment. The experimental results indicate that the steel deck contributes to the hogging moment capacity and this region exhibited a fair amount of ductility, which can be utilised for moment redistribution. © 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
