Title: | EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THIN-WALLED STEEL BOX. | Authors: | Chiew, Sing-Ping Lee, Seng-Lip Shanmugam, Nandivaram E. |
Issue Date: | Oct-1987 | Citation: | Chiew, Sing-Ping,Lee, Seng-Lip,Shanmugam, Nandivaram E. (1987-10). EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THIN-WALLED STEEL BOX.. Journal of structural engineering New York, N.Y. ll3 (l0) : 2208-2220. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | An experimental investigation of the ultimate load behavior of thin-walled box column is reported. Small-scale steel box column models are subjected to concentric or eccentric compressive loading and the failure brought about by local, overall, or interaction buckling. The effects of plate width-thickness ratio and column slenderness on the ultimate load-carrying capacity of box columns are shown to be significant. The test results were found to agree reasonably well with the theoretical predictions. | Source Title: | Journal of structural engineering New York, N.Y. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/65568 | ISSN: | 07339445 |
