Abstract: A discussion on process plant optimization covers basics of multi-objective optimization (MOO); a method for MOO; and application to two process problems, i.e., a heat exchanger network and an alkylation process, wherein isobutene is reacted with light hydrocarbons, using the readily available Solver tool in MS Excel.
