Abstract: Two different types of triangular spindle were used to generate different disk accelerations of acoustic emission (AE) signals at the head-disk interface. Experiments showed that disk acceleration has an effect on AE signal generation. For unlubricated disks, the rms peak magnitude of AE signal increased with acceleration. For lubricated disk, the signals decreased with acceleration.
