Active piezoelectric layers properly coated on the external surface of the object can be used to eliminate sound reflection and/or transmission efficiently. This paper addresses the application of piezoelectric materials for active sound reflection and transmission control in the form of active layer(s). A technique for evaluating and simulating the application effects of the piezoelectric layers is proposed. The formulation of suppression of sound reflection and/or transmission has been extended to cover two case studies. | Source Title: | Smart Materials and Structures | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/59303 | ISSN: | 09641726 | DOI: | 10.1088/0964-1726/10/4/312 |
