Title: | Curvature optimization of a cam mechanism with a translating flat-faced follower | Authors: | Yu, Q. Lee, H.P. |
Issue Date: | Sep-1996 | Citation: | Yu, Q.,Lee, H.P. (1996-09). Curvature optimization of a cam mechanism with a translating flat-faced follower. Journal of Mechanical Design, Transactions of the ASME 118 (3) : 446-449. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The radius of curvature of a cam profile is an important factor that affects the working life of cam mechanisms. Based on flexible motion curves using parametric polynomials developed earlier, a method for maximizing the minimum radius of cam curvature using a nonlinear programming technique is presented. The relation between the radius of curvature of a cam and the kinematic features of the corresponding motion curves is discussed. Examples are presented to illustrate the method. | Source Title: | Journal of Mechanical Design, Transactions of the ASME | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/58053 | ISSN: | 10500472 |
