Abstract: The effects of hydrostatic pressure on the germanium nanocrystals embedded glass matrix were investigated by studying the Raman scattering spectra. The pressure co-efficient obtained for Ge-Ge mode was twice its corresponding bulk value. The effective transmission of pressure from matrix to nanocrystals was explained by using a simple elastic model.
