Abstract: The cross-band mutual coupling of antennas collocated on a finite-sized ground plane smaller than one operating wavelength is studied. As an example, two thin monopole-type antennas are designed at the 900-MHz and 2.4-GHz bands, respectively. The study reveals that the finite-size ground plane greatly affects the 900-MHz cross-band mutual coupling of the collocated monopole-type antennas, which is significant and cannot be ignored. The information derived suggests the possible cross-band interference between antennas with a finite-sized ground plane. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
