Abstract: A novel, folded, capacitance-fed microstrip antenna with a length of λ/3 and placed over a cavity backing is proposed. Compared to the small rectangular patch antenna of Luk, our proposed antenna has a large impedance bandwidth of 20.1%. The cross-polarization level is ∼ -17 dB.
