Abstract: A bioelectric acquisition system specifically for ECG acquisition was implemented in this project. It consists of an instrumentation amplifier, a 125Hz low pass filter and a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter and was design and implemented using the Cadence circuit design tool. The instrumentation amplifier makes use of the nested-chopper architecture to help reduce the dominant 1/f flicker noise while a 6th order switched capacitor Butterworth filter serves to remove any unwanted high frequency interference. The bioelectric signal acquired is then converted into the digital domain using a 12-bit successive approximation analog-to-digital converter.
