Abstract: It is always difficult to decide on an exact definition of 'quality' and this is particularly true of the construction industry. However, it is important to establish some form of consensus on quality criteria for building, and this paper makes a contribution to this field by giving details of a survey which was conducted in Singapore to study how practitioners have implemented the concept of quality assurance in construction projects. The results suggest that there is a need for extensive training in order that a total quality approach can be adopted.
