Abstract: A methodology for assessing the performance of building facades based on the risk of defect occurrence was developed. The methodology relies on the accurate prediction of (1) the frequency of the occurrence of various types of defects over time based on historical data (30 years); and (2) the significance of the occurrence of various types of defects to the specific performances anticipated by the users. The proposed methodology can be used for the evaluation of the maintainability and whole life performance of a building right from the planning stage.
