Abstract: Trust establishment is hard in grid architecture by the ad hoc nature. To set up trust in large scale of network is more difficult. In this paper, we propose an automatic key management (AKM) model and corresponding key construction schemes. The hierarchical structure is formed automatically and scale seamlessly in arbitrary network sized. Regions are configured differently according to various levels of risks faced. The novel model provides an integrated solution for self-organized trust establishment, upon which rich appliances are securely supported. It is automatic, flexible, and scalable. Furthermore, simulation results show that computation costs due to the variations are very small under common threshold and region size settings. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
