Abstract: Lv Shuxiang (1984) discussed three grammatical phenomena in Modern Chinese which are closely related to the current studies of syntax-semantics mismatch. This paper will focus on the grammatical phenomenon of “you eat your rice” based on two different approaches of generative grammar and cognitive grammar.
