Abstract: This thesis examines non-conventional terrains of extended urbanisation through observation and analysis of leisure practices popular among Singaporean residents visiting recreational farms and forests in southern Malaysia. Thereby the thesis furthers a body of literature that questions inherited and prevalent categories of the ‘urban’ and the ‘rural’.
