NUMERICAL MODELLING OF SUBMARINE LANDSLIDES USING CONSISTENT PARTICLE METHOD (CPM). ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Among all the geohazards, submarine landslides have been recognized as the most devastating events that threaten human life and pose huge impact on offshore structures. The displaced volume and run-out distance of submarine landslides are extremely large compared to subaerial landslides. In order to study the fundamental mechanism of the movement of submarine landslides, a particle meshless method of Lagrangian nature named Consistent Particle method (CPM) is implemented. Bingham plastic rheological model is commonly adopted to describe the non-Newtonian behavior of debris flow, in which the behavior of soil material is characterized by the yield stress to differentiate from Newtonian fluid. Together with the validation of Newtonian fluid simulation, the CPM is extended to study one-phase non-Newtonian and two-phase non-Newtonian submarine landslides in thesis. | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/138213 |
