Abstract: The filtering antenna can provide a shaping of filter-like response for both the antenna gain and input return loss, and an almost lossless integration between the RF filter and the radiator. Although the filtering antenna behaves attractive performance, there still remain several challenges related to the practical application of it. The main objectives of this thesis are (i) to achieve high out-of-band attenuation for the SIW cavity filtering antenna and array - (ii) to provide array designs of filtering antennas using SIW cavity resonators for monopulse and dual-polarization applications - and (iii) to obtain a broadband filtering antenna, in which a dielectric resonator antenna is implemented as the resonator using the synthesized dielectric technology. The analysis method and design approach for the above filtering antennas are also investigated.
