Title: | The re emergence of early congenital syphilis | Authors: | Tan, K.L. | Issue Date: | 1973 | Citation: | Tan, K.L. (1973). The re emergence of early congenital syphilis. Acta Paediatrica Scandinavica 62 (6) : 601-607. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Ten infants with early congenital syphilis are presented. Hepatosplenomegaly is a marked feature in all the infants. The majority of them were of low birth weight. Syphilitic pemphigus was present in 5, and hydrops fetalis in 4. Five infants survived, including one with hydrops fetalis. Early diagnosis and intensive therapy are necessary for survival. A high index of suspicion is required for early and more frequent diagnosis of this condition. | Source Title: | Acta Paediatrica Scandinavica | URI: | http://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/133900 | ISSN: | 0001656X |
