Abstract: The relationship between transcription and replication has remained poorly understood. In this study, we aim to shed more light on the interplay between transcription and replication by cloning the EBV latent origin of replication oriP at certain positions downstream of a promoter. Results show that transcription through the origin seem to inhibit replication and vise versa although the mechanisms by which this occurs remain unclear.
