Abstract: In order to adopt clean renewable energy and to power rapidly miniaturizing ultra performing electronic devices, high energy and power density energy storage devices (ESD) with high energy efficiency have to be developed. At present, ESD such as lithium-ion battery (LIB), and supercapacitor are few of the popular choices for storing energy due to its respective high energy density, and high power density. In the past decades, efforts in enhancing their individual performance flaws have been devoted for the poor power capability LIB and low energy density supercapacitor. Through the study, it was recognized that energy density and power density are mutually exclusive, and often, one has to be sacrificed in the process of enhancing the other. This paradox eventually leads to the motivation of many experimental works, and also one of the motivations in this thesis, to design ESD which can harmonize energy and power density
