Abstract: This thesis deals with the phytochemistry of one ever green tree (Calophyllum wallichianum)and two liverworts (Scapania undulata and Plagiochila colorans). The isolation and purification were mainly achieved by the combination of various chromatographic techniques and the structural identifications were mainly dependent on the employment of spectroscopic techniques including NMR, MS, XRD, etc. In this project, eight novel compounds and fifteen known compounds were identified. In addition, the biotransformation of terpenoids was also investigated, and the biotransformation of camphor by Mucor plumbeus and Aspergillus niger afforded three and four mono-hydroxylated products, respectively.
