Abstract: Asthma and allergy management in children involves many different aspects of care. Its impact on lifestyle, particularly from unnecessary restrictions in activity and diet, can be significant. Some of the pharmacological agents used in adult asthma may not be identical in their effectiveness in children and issues of drug delivery and compliance are particularly challenging in paediatric asthma. Parents'/ guardians' knowledge and understanding as well as proficiency in self-administered asthma care are essential for optimal outcomes in these young patients. This review will encompass treatment choices as well as the approach to the holistic care of childhood asthma and allergies relevant to the practitioner.
