Abstract: Ultra-wide bandwidth technology, using very sharp impulse signals, has been proposed as a possible solution for short-range indoor communication applications. However, due to the short length of the impulse signal, a very precise synchronization control is vital for the whole system. In this paper, six different signature sequences such as CAZAC sequence, CROU sequence, M-Sequence, Shroeder Sequence, Hadamard Sequence and Optimal Channel Estimation Sequence are considered as the candidates for preamble sequence. Various synchronization parameters were studied for the above sequences and different performance matrices such as probability of acquisition, probability of miss detection and the probability of false detection were analyzed and compared. © 2004 IEEE.
