Abstract: The finite gap width replay pulse was considered in this paper, when the transition width is no longer a constant but a function of the depth of the medium. In the numerical calculation this function is approximated in two terms, linear and second order, as a = a(y) = a0 + k1·y + k2·yZ. It is found that both pulse amplitude and pulse width change with transition width variation, however, the second order effect is much smaller in comparison with the linear effect of such a variation. © 1996 IEEE.
