Abstract: Thermal power plants are the most common source of electricity generation. To save limited fuel resources and reduce the production cost, power sectors need to face to the most fundamental challenge, which is improving electricity generation efficiency. Modelling the power generation process is the most direct, essential and accurate way to provide necessary information for solving this problem. This paper provides an analysis of a cogeneration power plant based on thermodynamic principles and the modelling method. In a case study of 90% load working condition, the differences between plant measurements and model predictions of most parameters are less than 3%, which shows that the modelling method is quite reliable and accurate for efficiency calculation and condition monitoring.
