The theis then focus on the semantic extension of zuo(sit),zhan(stand) and tang(lie), the cardinal posture words in Chinese. After re-paraphraseing the non-posture meanings of zuo(sit),zhan(stand) and tang(lie), we try to conclude the path and the regularities of their extensions. According to the analysis, this research come to the conclusion that stressed areas, orientation of the body and the relative direction of body and the ground are the most salient components to Chinse posture words, while the purpose, the manner etc are opaque ones. As to the semantic extension, the non-posture meanings of zuo(sit),zhan(stand) and tang(lie) are closely related to their respective features. This research carries on a comprehensive analysis of Chinese posture words, and use a relative new method of word description.
