Abstract: Building certification schemes foster sustainable design and energy efficiency. This PhD study indicates that they also foster indoor environmental quality. This was attested by extensive field measuring campaigns which also included occupant responses in certified and non-certified buildings. Further enhancements to certification schemes were proposed to promote human well-being. The study was anchored at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and executed with the National University of Singapore (NUS) within a Joint NUS-DTU PhD Programme established between the two universities.
