Abstract: IN THIS STUDY, TWO SIMPLE, FAST AND SENSITIVE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY QUADRUPOLE MASS SPECTROMETRY (GC-QMS) METHODS WERE DEVELOPED. THE FIRST METHOD IS THE SPEED-CONTROLLED LARGE VOLUME INJECTION (SCLVI) GC-QMS METHOD FOR ?IN-LINER ENRICHMENT? OF SEMIVOLATILES FROM ALCOHOL-WATER MATRIX. THE METHOD WAS THEN UTILIZED FOR CHEMICAL PROFILING OF LESS VOLATILE CONGENERS (LVCS) IN BRANDIES. BY SUBJECTING THE LVCS PROFILES OF BRANDIES TO MULTIVARIATE ANALYSES, THE BRANDIES WERE SUCCESSFULLY CLASSIFIED ACCORDING TO THEIR QUALITY GRADES AND BRANDS. WITH THE DISCRIMINATION ANALYSES, THE COUNTERFEIT GRAPE BRANDIES WERE DETECTED. THE SECOND METHOD DEVELOPED WAS A FAST GC-QMS METHOD FOR ANALYSIS OF THE HAZARDOUS PHTHALATE ESTERS IN BEVERAGES. THE METHOD UTILIZED A SHORT AND NARROW CAPILLARY COLUMN, WHICH ELUTED THE TARGET ANALYTES THREE TIMES (300 %) FASTER THAN CONVENTIONAL METHOD. WITH SIMULTANEOUS SCAN AND SIM DATA ACQUISITIONS, THE METHOD SUCCESSFULLY ENLARGED THE SCOPE OF APPLICATION IN ADDITION TO
