Abstract: In this paper, results of the impulse response measurements carried out to investigate the performance of local multipoint distribution service (LMDS) channel in Singapore are reported. Our measurements aim at obtaining complete characterization of excess path loss and impulse response parameters such as average delay, delay spread, delay window and correlation bandwidth which give valuable insight into the time dispersive nature of LMDS channel. Measurements on short-term statistics such as the signal level distributions, level crossing rates and the average duration of fades have also been derived which provide vital information for the design of interleavers and channel coding for an efficient LMDS system design.
