Abstract: A triangular electromagnetically coupled planar monopole was analyzed to improve the impedance performance of a conventional monopole. Three monopoles with different feeding arrangements and separated by a piece of thin dielectric slab were investigated. Input impedance was measured in the frequency range 1 to 5GHz. Results indicated that broad impedance bandwidths were attained by properly choosing the dimensions of the feeding strip.
