ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Issues in providing multimedia services on wireless include multiple access, bandwidth rationing and power control. In this paper, we address the latter two issues. A resource allocation scheme, Dynamic Power and Packet Segmentation Control (DPSC), for voice and data integrated wideband CDMA networks is proposed to differentiate the two types of traffics and achieve the multiple QoS requirements as well. Specifically, with the fixed signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and spreading gain for voice users, it maximizes a power utility function and the packet throughput for each data user simultaneously by selecting different packet segmentation length and adjusting the network target SIR in the basestation receiver according to the voice/data user number. The simulation results demonstrate that DPSC is effective in increasing capacity of data users with higher SIR/throughput requirement and lower power constraint.
